Baseline Road (231st to Brookwood & 197th to Willow Creek)
Baseline Road is a heavily used east/west arterial that carries approximately 20,000 cars a day. The previous roadway section between Brookwood and 231st varied between 2-4 travel lanes, had intermittent bike lanes mixed with varying shoulder widths and lacked continuous sidewalks.
The section of roadway between 197th and Willow Creek previously included three travel lanes, bike lanes, and a mix of sidewalks and asphalt pedestrian paths.
Both roadway sections experience traffic delays, especially during commute times, due to the inconsistency with the travel lane configuration and increasing residential and commercial growth in the area.
This project will widen both sections of Baseline Road to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction with a center turn lane).
- Continuous sidewalks throughout the project (some existing sections of sidewalk will remain; all gaps will be connected)
- Buffered bike lanes between Brookwood and 231st
- Standard bike lanes will remain between 197th and Willow Creek
- Street lighting
- Storm and sewer facility upgrades
The $12.2 million project is funded through phase 3d of the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). The total project cost includes the estimated cost of design, right-of-way and construction and is subject to change.
