Draft Long Range Planning Work Program available for review

The draft of the Long Range Planning Annual Work Program is available for public review and comment. The program outlines work priorities for Washington County Land Use & Transportation Planning staff and recommended ordinance topics for 2016-17. Highlights include:

  • Begin a multipronged, multidisciplinary, regional approach to develop options to address housing affordability.
  • Launch the Aloha Town Center/TV Highway Transit-Oriented Development Plan, based on a $400,000 Metro Community Planning and Development Grant (CPDG).
  • Continue the Washington County Transportation Futures Study to consider investment beyond a 20-year horizon.
  • Update the Urban Planning Area Agreements between the County and cities.
  • Complete work in North Bethany to support development consistent with the Community Plan.
  • Complete the Rural Tourism study (formerly agritourism), including implementation of recommendations.
  • Continue local, regional and state planning coordination, including:
    • Southwest Corridor.
    • 2018 Regional Transportation Plan.
    • Regional Urban Growth Report and Growth Management decision.
    • Development plans of urban reserve areas, new urban areas and redevelopment plans for centers and industrial areas in coordination with cities in Washington County and Metro.
  • Address citizen and businesses requests to:
    • Amend the North Bethany Subarea Plan to provide standards for "necessary pedestrian connections."
    • Update the Community Development Code related to infill development standards.
    • Implement a Measure 49 Transfer of Development (TDC) program.
    • Finalize land use designations in the North Cooper Mountain area.

Comments on the Annual Work Plan must be submitted in writing no later than March 3. Comments may be submitted one of the following ways:

Electronic comment submissions are accepted only if sender is adequately identified (full name, mailing address, company/organization, if applicable, and any additional contact information). All comments will be provided to the Board of Commissioners prior to adoption of the final Work Program at the March 22 meeting.
