New food safety rules were adopted by the State of Oregon on September 4, 2012. This site includes results for inspections conducted before and after the adoption of the new food safety regulations.
Under the new rules, a restaurant's inspection score is determined by violations that:
- have a direct connection to preventing foodborne illness or
- require specific action by management to control foodborne illness risk factors
Violations related to general sanitation, operational controls, sanitation standard operating procedures, facility structures, equipment design, or general maintenance are no longer scored, but they are noted in the report. This means that a restaurant can receive a score of 100 but still have violations. A restaurant must receive a score of 70 to pass the inspection (same as prior food safety rules). Consumers can find a placard near the restaurant entrance that indicates if a facility passed the last routine health inspection.
