Ballots Mailed to Voters for the 2024 May Primary Election

Washington County Elections has mailed out ballots to registered voters for the Primary Election, held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Only voters who had registered with a major political party by the April 30 deadline will receive a partisan ballot. Those who are not affiliated with a major political party will receive a ballot with the nonpartisan contests for this election. Voters can expect their ballot to arrive by Tuesday, May 7. Registered voters who are not yet 18 years of age will not receive a ballot until an election occurs on or after their 18th birthday. If you have not received your ballot by May 7, a replacement ballot can be requested at WashCoVotes.org or by contacting the Elections Office at 503-846-5800.

The notifications sent from Washington County Elections will indicate when your ballot has been mailed and when it has been accepted, or if there is an issue requiring further action by you, the voter. BallotTrax is provided at no charge to Washington County voters. Once you sign up, you will not have to reenroll come election time. Ballot packets no longer contain an optional secrecy sleeve. Secrecy sleeves are partial envelopes voters would traditionally place their completed ballots inside of to ensure election and postal workers could not see how they voted. Over the past few years, most Oregon counties have moved away from using secrecy sleeves, including Washington County. Voters can trust that their ballots remain safe and secure with the new privacy weave printed onto their Official Ballot Return Envelope. The Secretary of State’s Office has approved this change, allowing Washington County Elections to save taxpayers $24,000 annually by not printing the additional envelopes. 

Return your ballot by mail or in an Official Ballot Drop Site. Once completed, ballots can be delivered to Washington County Elections either by mail, or through an Official Ballot Drop Site until 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 21, 2024. Ballots mailed back must be postmarked on or before Election Day. No postage is needed when returning your ballot. Washington County has 21 official ballot drop locations, all of which are accessible 24 hours a day. A new drop site location has been added to Westside Commons (formerly known as the Fair Complex) located at 801 NE 34th Ave, Hillsboro 97124. Voters living near the area are encouraged to drop off their ballots at Westside Commons to avoid congestion at the drop site located outside of Brookwood Library.
