Anglers of all ages, mark your calendars! The Hagg Lake Fishing Tournament is back for a second annual event on May 4, 2024. Hosted by Washington County Parks and supported by local partners, this family-friendly competition promises a day of fun and fishing at the lake.

The tournament kicks off at 8:00 a.m. as anglers cast their lines anywhere on the lake, from shore or boat. The fishing will continue until noon, followed by judging at 1:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 p.m. in both youth and adult categories for trout, brown bullhead, bluegill, crappie and perch species.

Last year, the tournament attracted over 300 participants. While the focus is on friendly competition, the true spirit of the tournament lies in fostering community connections, educating participants about the diverse fish species found in Hagg Lake, and promoting outdoor recreation opportunities.

Registration is required and includes a $10 fee for individuals or $20 for a group of up to six people from the same household. Fishing licenses are mandatory for all participants aged 12 years and older and can be purchased from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The event is made possible with support of community partners and volunteers, including the Kayak Fishing Northwest, the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, Get Hooked and Rods and Reels in Need. Special appreciation to our prize sponsors Trout Tickler Tackle, Next Adventure, and Shakebu Fishing Club.

The fishing tournament also kicks off Water Safety Month, featuring a water safety booth from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with experts from local agencies including the Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol.
