Bicycle Facility Design Toolkit
Design practices for bicycle facilities have evolved rapidly over the past five years. Like many jurisdictions, Washington County's existing Road Design Standards don't include the latest innovative bicycle treatments.
In the summer of 2011, Washington County began developing a Bicycle Facility Design Toolkit (Toolkit) to supplement the current County Road Design Standards. The Toolkit provides engineers and planners more options to address safety concerns and accommodate a wider range of bicyclists. For more information, please see the background document.
The Bicycle Facility Design Toolkit is now available. Click on the link to the right to view the draft Toolkit (PDF). Printed copies of the draft Toolkit are available for $5 and can be picked up at our office (1400 SW Walnut St, Hillsboro). E-mail us or call us at 503-846-7800 if you'd like a copy mailed to you.
We look forward to keeping you updated as we develop new county road projects that utilize the Bicycle Facility Design Toolkit. Please sign up for our "Bicycle and Pedestrian Information" e-subscription to stay informed on this effort and other bicycle and pedestrian efforts at Washington County.
