Pedestrian and Biking Improvement projects approved for funding

The Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) funds small-scale pedestrian and biking improvement projects, including sidewalks, pathways and bike lanes.
Media release

Three Pedestrian and Biking Improvement projects totaling $1 million were approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners during its Jan. 23 meeting.

The Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee unanimously voted to recommend the projects to the Board in August. The projects are funded by the Urban Road Maintenance District. Projects are:

Waterhouse Trail Pedestrian Crossings: We will build ramps and stripe pedestrian crossings where the Waterhouse Trail intersects with:

  • Brandberry Drive
  • Somerset Drive
  • Charlais Street
  • Paisley Drive

Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District will contribute $100,000 to the project. The crossings will complement our in-progress pedestrian-activated crossing signal installation where the trail crosses Laidlaw Road.

193rd Avenue Pedestrian Improvement: We will build a sidewalk on the west side of 193rd Avenue from Kinnaman Elementary to Blanton Street.

185th Avenue and Viking Court Pedestrian Improvement: We will build a permanent crossing across a ditch to help pedestrians cross 185th Avenue at Viking Court.

Including these projects, the Pedestrian and Biking Improvement program has funded 75 projects totaling over $38 million. The program’s size was reduced this year. Learn about Pedestrian and Biking Improvement project funding.
